This document summarizes a data search and subsequent application trials
of selected primer plus topcoat surface treatments of PVC extrusions. Six
different surface treatments were tested; a light-seal surface cover of durability typical of household surface treatments was achieved with each. No evidence was found for degradation when the treatments were sprinkled or lightly rubbed with NOvA liquid scintillator. On the basis of cost and absence of noxious ingredients in the primer, topcoat treatment #6 of this study is recommended for NOvA.
