Abstract:
The goal of these studies is to generate simulated hadron production data using a standalone FLUKA installation that includes a simplified thin target geometry and compare it to available published external hadron production data. Simulation data were generated for both carbon and hydrogen thin targets (<1% interaction length) for incoming protons at 158 and 31 GeV/c. Charged pion and kaon invariant cross-sections are then compared to the corresponding NA49 and NA61 data. The results of these studies can help quantify the systematic error resulting from the the hadron production model used in the NDOS analysis work, since the simulated neutrino fluxes were produced using the same FLUKA generator.
